Overall Purpose of the Job
The Connections Quality Assurance Officer is responsible for the ensuring new connections for all customer categories comply to regulatory and international standards through continuous audits, training and stakeholder engagements.
The job holder is responsible for safety, security, technical and customer experience new connections compliance in coordination with internal departmental stakeholders, contractors and IVA. This job directly affects customer experience, revenue collection, regulatory compliance and safety. The role cushions the business from revenue loss, delayed payments, reputational damage and failure to meet national and international agenda.
Key Results Areas
- Ensure inspection of materials, processes and connection works to verify compliance with approved standards, identify ineligibles and ensure resolution.
- Ensure timely follow up on identified ineligibles to confirm resolution and report repeat challenges.
- Promote adherence to safety, environment and social management protocols in line with UEDCL, World Bank and other funding agencies.
- Work closely with field teams and contractors to clarify quality requirements
- Provide feedback to improve workmanship standards
- Documentation and reporting of findings and corrective actions
Expected Outputs
- 100% connection compliance rate with Independent Verification Agency reports
- Reduction in material and installation failures
- Inspection coverage and accuracy
- Reduction in ineligibles
- Timely re-imbursement of connection funds
- Compliance with safety standards
JOB ELEMENTS AS PER THE EVALUATION FACTORS
Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
Education:
- A minimum of a degree in Electrical engineering
- Class B ERA permit or above is an added advantage.
Experience, Skills and Competences
Experience
At least 4 years’ experience in a similar position preferably in a utility / contractor firm
Technical Skills
- Single and three phase meter installation standards
- Electrical Installation skills up to 415V (ERA Permit – class C)
- Pole climbing
- SOR training
- Defensive driving or riding
