Job Purpose
To provide guests with safe, engaging, and high-quality guided water-based safari and boating experiences while ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, operational standards, and company service expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure the guests receive the most professional and efficient service possible while guiding.
- Ensure guests' hotboxes and cooler boxes are packed according to lodge protocol.
- Ensure the assigned boat has been checked by the maintenance team and simultaneously report any issues to be attended to immediately.
- To ensure boats are clean and up to standard.
- Liaise with Head Guide and Management on any assignments that need to be carried out.
- Help with the training and development of Junior Guides within ABC.
- Ensure that all relevant documentation required of the guide is completed and submitted to the Head Guide in due time.
- Filling in the sightings book.
- Uphold the guides’ code of conduct.
Qualities
- Energetic and enthusiastic, with the ability to create engaging and memorable guest experiences.
- Well-spoken, articulate, and confident in communicating with guests from diverse backgrounds.
- Outgoing and personable, with a warm and approachable attitude.
- Strong knowledge of wildlife, birdlife, aquatic ecosystems, and local conservation practices.
Qualifications
- Full Grade 12 certificate.
- Bedrock Boat-Guide Level certification.
- 2+ years of relevant experience is required (preferably on the Zambezi River).
