Job Purpose

To lead enterprise database architecture, optimization, and governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design database architecture
• Lead performance optimization initiatives
• Ensure data governance and compliance

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• A professional certification in database administration or related areas, such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft SQL Server certification, or equivalent, is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5–7 years’ relevant work experience in database administration, with at least 3 years at a senior level.
• Proven hands-on experience in administering, monitoring, tuning, and securing enterprise databases such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar platforms.
• Strong experience in database backup, recovery, replication, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning.
• Demonstrated experience in database security management, including user access control, encryption, patching, and compliance monitoring.
• Proficiency in SQL scripting, database troubleshooting, and automation of routine administrative tasks.
• Experience working with large-scale transactional systems, billing systems, ERP platforms, or other mission-critical business applications is an added advantage.
• Good understanding of operating systems, especially Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments, as they relate to database hosting and support.
• Familiarity with cloud database platforms and hybrid environments is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

• Experience in the utilities, telecommunications, banking, or other high-volume transaction environments.
• Knowledge of data governance, business continuity planning, and cybersecurity best practices.
